Looks like a Great Britain Gold Sovereign. Is it about 21 or 22mm in diameter?

OK, got it! It was between the halfcrown and crown. There's slight difference in the wreath.
Yours is a halfcrown (must be 32 mm in diameter), sterling (0.925) silver, .4205 oz. ASW.
I wouldn't rely on my catalog, a few years old, for values, so hopefully someone else could help you with that.

I wasn't even thinking gold!
Now we absolutely need to know the size!

There are no 1843 Crowns so svslav is correct. It is indeed a half crown. Tough date. My guess is F/VF and would be in the $150.00 retail range. Nice coin.

My bad. Gold Sovereign. The difference is the position of the hair "bun" in relation to "GRATIA".

Good catch!

And again, there are minor differences in the wreath between h/crown and a sov. This is a sovereign, that is unless it's a copy and not necessarily gold.

Common date. Considering the grade the gold content is probably worth more than the collector value.

Sovereign is 22 mm. Probably close enough, measurement error.
I do, though, advise a close scrutiny of the coin when it arrives because many forgeries of Victorian sovs exist!
