I had a question, is this a sufficient way to store my coins? The box is pretty thick and I drilled out some holes for locks, and disguised it with a couple stickers haha. Let me know what you guys think.

Just watch out for any junkies with blowtorches!

Just reminds me of when my ex-wife occasionally had a needle-collection box that she needed at work. If I had borrowed her car and had it been in the boot I was technically in possession of class-A drugs and could have faced prison had I been caught.

If your looking for security I would stay away from plastic. Maybe steel would be better.

I am with Chris on this one. even though your coins are probably in flips of encased there is still the possibility that the PVC in the plastic can seep through. all it takes is heat and the right environment and all you copper will turn green and silver white or hazy. go with metal. you can get a good safe for 250.00 or less at OfficeMax

If you were able to drill holes for the locks, then it would be just as easy to drill holes to open it.

I do like the misdirection though. It would definitely limit if not eliminate my curiosity.

My only suggestion would be using four matching locks, but that is my OCD talking.

I sometimes store my most valueable coins outside my safe. I think if a robber or a junkie was to break in, the first thing they would go for the safe first. My best spot? old puzzle boxes in the linen closet :)

Lots of things to note here.
1. Is this box easy enough to move by a crook?
2. As noted if you could drill it for those locks, crooks have drills also
3. Many criminals are not educated enough to know what you placed on that box means. They would assume it means something of value so would be more prone for theft.
4. Appears to be handles on the sides making walking away with that a bit easier also.
5. Nothing like a nice bright color to attract attention.
6. And just where would you keep that thing?
Summation is not the best idea for coins.

Oh how true that is as a few of my neighbors can verify. One had a massive safe, heavy, bolted to the floor and walls. They not only took that completely out but took a so called burglar alarm system too. Nothing like a safe to advertise you have something of value.

Safes are very inexpensive compared to just a few years ago, I highly recommending buying a safe that bolts to the floor.

all right thanks for the tips haha, there were points brought up I didn't even think about. At one point there were matching locks but my sister was making a big deal about how she could get into it because she had a key that fit 3 out of 4 locks. so I decided to find a couple of different locks to put on it. I used to have a metal box but the lock hinge thingy broke off it was only held on by rivets. Now that I know plastic could ruin my coins I'll fix the lock thing and switch back. I have a steel cable I could tether the box to a rack or something that would be hard to take with.

here is the metal box, I have had it for years. Not everything fits so what does is in there, well all of the coins fit but the other "valuables" don't haha.

Very nice padlocks!

The padlocks seem to be crying out "you cant open this!"
and the plastic box says "yes you can!"

very interesting !

haha at first I thought you were serious, then I realized what you were trying to do. nice one though haha. After the tips you guys gave me I made a steel cable that is connected to a big rack to kinda stop someone that tries to pack off with it.

Buy a ball python, preferably one of the ones that goes to 12-15 feet. Bury coins in box in habitat soil. Name ball python "Fluffy". Place sign warning "Beware of Fluffy".

Place prominent fake human skull and bones in habitat.
