"Monday, 06 December 2010
Australia Post and
ebay have partnered to offer an exclusive deal for
ebay sellers to help simplify packing and posting items sold online.
From today, co-branded 500g and 3kg satchels will be available exclusively to
ebay members with flat-rate pricing. The satchels can be ordered and delivered for free via auspost.ebay.com.au and will arrive within three to five working days.
The launch of the new '
ebay' satchel follows the roll-out of Australia Post's Click & Send service to the
ebay community, enabling online sellers to organise labelling, tracking, pick-up and delivery of goods with the click of their mouse.
Peter Lavis, General Manager eTailing Fulfilment at Australia Post, says the satchels are one of a number of initiatives developed through the partnership between Australia Post and
ebay.
"With 5.6 million Australians visiting
ebay every month , we know that
ebay trade contributes significantly to the 20 million items Australia Post delivers every day, so this new partnership makes sense," said Mr Lavis.
This product is further demonstration of Australia Post's focus on the online market as a way of boosting its parcels business.
"The partnership with
ebay is an important one, as we're focussed on understanding the needs of online buyers and sellers and the intricacies of the online world - our parcels business depends on it," said Mr Lavis.
"The satchels developed with Australia Post will address three major areas of concerns identified by
ebay sellers - security, ease and cost of sending items" says Nicolette Maury, Head of Buyer & Trust for
ebay.
"Sellers will be able to list an item and order a free satchel to be delivered to their door, making posting
ebay items even easier. We are particularly excited about the satchels being trackable, which has become an ecommerce industry standard in Europe and North America."
ebay members will be able to order restricted quantities of the satchels, access exclusive flat rate pricing, pay for postage, and print their label via Australia Post's Click and Send service.
Packages can be posted in Australia Post red street posting boxes or, for an additional fee, picked up by a courier booked via Click and Send.
The satchels are available to
ebay sellers from 6 December by visiting auspost.ebay.com.au , until 30 April 2011 or while stocks last."
