I was starting to put up Iraqi Fils for sale offering as usual, worldwide shipping and visibility when this message popped up:

" Attention Sellers
You are not permitted to offer shipping to Germany (this includes worldwide or EU) for this item. Please revise your listing to domestic-only or other non-Germany shipping options."

O.K. so I don't understand, but I comply and list Germany as an exclusion. And guess what. See above message.Again.
Does anyone know what's going on here, 'cos the Bay isn't telling me anything.

What's wrong with ebay... I see no harms in shipping some Iraqi Fils to anywhere on the world.
Maybe you shouldn't write "Iraq, Iraqi, etc." on item headline. This may work.

After five attempts, they've finally let me list. It seems that I still can't sell to Germany (?) but at least I can show "shipping worldwide" with Germany excluded.
Reasons? Big Brother ebay hasn't come back to me yet.

Molydeii, you're right. As long as I don't include "Iraq" on the title line, I can do whatever I want.
Except attract the attention of anyone looking for Iraqi coins of course.
What does ebay have against the Germans? Or me for that matter.

It doesn't seem to bother them if you type IR*Q

The only thing that occurs to me is ebay Germany's ban on selling antiquities and cultural artefacts from Iraq; translation of ebay Germany help page on the subject. Apparently Germany is a major clearing-house for looted and stolen artefacts from Iraq and ebay Germany has these rules in place to try to do their part to stop it. I suspect something in the wording of your listing and/or your choice of listing category has made ebay's robots think that's what you were trying to sell; perhaps because "fils" is very close to "fals", the name of mediaeval Iraqi copper coins.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Thanks sap, that does make sense.Much more so than letting me type IR*Q and susequently ignoring the posts.
Anyway all the angst was worth it, 10 or so coins listed and already interest is being shown.

Sap, it looks like (as usual) you are spot on, and its the denomination (fils) that's causing the problem.
Someone else has got around it by calling them Rils.
