i bought a box of pennies today to roll search and 4 of the rolls were full rolls of 2010 d shield pennies in the string and son wrappers. would anyone buy these or would it be so cheap that I should just send them back to the bank with all my other junk pennies? they are not low mintage or anything special so I was wondering what you guys would do with them?

okay I am a liar, sorry for multiple posts, but I guess the box had 15 BU 2010 d rolls in it. What to do what to do. bad part is that now I only have 35 rolls to actually search :/

when I go to the banks to get boxes of pennies and the teller goes to the vault and brings back 2010 boxes, I still buy them from the bank. I then go to the next bank and buy pennies with the 2010's. I never tell the teller that I don't want them after they go get them.

I've back all the 2010 boxes that I've come across, but that is just me. I have not found a reason to save the 2010's yet.

I hope this helps.

well I wouldnt give them directly back to the teller. but I would take them to the free coin counter that I got to. just seeing if they are wanted by anyone or if I should just spend them. I know they are not that special.

i have a free coin cointing machine at 1 of the banks I bank at, but I cant use the machine any more.

They feel I use the machine for commercial use and the tellers wont let me use it any more.

Maybe I shouldn't have brought them over $1500 in american zincs one week. oh well........happy hunting

I would throw back at least some of the roles. I just got my first three solid roles of 2010 D yesterday. I'm just going to set them aside and forget about them now. I have alot of loose in bags and tubes but these are my first wrapped ones.

murrellington:

I go through four $25 boxes each month. Two months ago, I open one of the boxes, and find 50 rolls of UNC 2010D cents. I went through every one of them one by one, looking for truly gem coins (MS66+). I found exactly 4 that I thought were MS66/67. I could not believe just how difficult it is to find truly super gem blazers, fully struck, no carbon spots, clean fields, no blistering, full mint luster, blazing cartwheel effect, etc... - even in UNC rolls!

I saved the top 10% of the coins, labelled them MS64+ and put them away. I'm still new at roll searching, but I can tell you this. A true MS65 coin is a lot rarer than a MS64, and a MS66 is a super rarity. In my experience - something like 100 times rarer than a fairly common MS63/64.

I thought I'd tell you this, because if you have the time and inclination, there are a FEW coins in that mass of coins that may one day have some actual value.

Wild Bill. I have an idea for you. Next time you go to the bank wear a hat and sunglasses, maybe even a fake beard and of course a long trench coat. Ahhh on second thought maybe not a good idea.
