Poll Question
I've been trying to improve my skill in grading and am looking for a good referance guide, hopefully with color photos. But these are the two I mainly keep coming back to. If you use a better/different one please list it.

I think the ANA grading standard book would be the best to learn to grade, photograde is another good one to learn from also

I just bought the ANA standard and the RedBook of Morgans for $4.99 at our local Ollie's outlet this morning...don't know if it's the best, but it's a bargain.

I use the 18th edition of photograde. It is very helpful and reasonably priced on the net.

I use a book called "Making The Grade". Published by Amos Hobby Publishing. Love it!

I bought the ANA Grading Standards and it arrived today. If this is the best, then I know the area of this hobby that needs improvement. The photos are black and white and not that clear. There are no captions which totally render the photos useless. This book could be redone without them, cutting the book to half its size, and then the price lowered. It also skips alot of the grades. Sure it tells you to go to page XX-XX for those descriptions, but those descriptions a generic for any coin. They are not coin specific. I found that on the internet and don't need this book for that. I find this book a disappointment.

I agree that there is not just one book that will tell you all you need to know about grading. I would suggest getting Making the Grade also. I think it has the best photos of all the grading books. That along with the ANA book will be a good start.
