Dennis, welcome to the forum! Despite my being a wannabe Labradorian, I don't know much about Canadian coin grading except there is an excellent TPG in Toronto, ICCS (International Coin Certification Service) which doesn't seem to have a website. What I did find was a collection of coin links for Canada http://www.coinlink.com/bin05/direc...earch=canadaPerhaps some of the other Canadian CC members can help out here? Fred

Thanks Fred, did a quick search on the link, didn't find anything yet...to clarify, I'm not looking for a grading service...Reference books such as the ANA Grading Standards for US coins, or Photograde...something I can use to get a better handle on the fine points of grading canadians. Surely there must be something our canadian collectors can recommend...at least that's my hope. Dennis

The book that I use is " Standard Grading Guide for Canadian & Colonial Decimal Coins " by James E. Charlton and Robert C. Willey . ISBN 1-895909-68-6. The dealer I go to has a well used copy on his counter.

Dennis, I found one on ebay that seems fairly recent on date, 1999. Most of the others I saw were later dates from the 60's. Didn't think you would want to go that far back. Not sure how much you are wanting to pay also. http://cgi.ebay.ca/STANDARD-GRADING...ON_W0QQitemZ290029534324QQihZ019QQcategoryZ548QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Thanks, bromac and Irishraider...that's what I'm looking for,,,if anyone else has any other reference book, I'll still be looking for others. For now, finding not just a title but an actual available book has certainly made my day...Thanks again!
best regards, Dennis

Congrats! Looks like you got it for a decent price as well. Since you brought the subject up I am going to try to get me one also. I have started to get into Canadian and now Great Britain coins. They just pulled me right in. Will have to see if I can find something on the British coins as well. I am blaming it on my wife for now.

Irishraider has a good point concerning the Canadians pulling you right in...I find the provincials and early confederation series of Victoria, Ed VII, and Geo V absolutely invigorating...years of looking at the same old us issues got tiresome I suppose...An excellent reference is the Charlton Standard Catalogue of Canadian Coins... Just stirring the pot Dennis
