Looks like a small bidding war erupted or 1 of them wanted the coin real bad
The auction Billie posted, the coin doesn't seem right for the grade. I wouldn't touch that one

I just posted that for an example of what the actual value should be. No I wouldn't bid based on that picture either.

Maybe a low population of MS 66 for that date? I say get a raw BU that works for YOUR eye appeal and the heck with the grading companies.

I believe the one Billie posted is a counterfeit slab. Look at the dash between the serial #'s. It should be slanted and slightly curved on the ends, not straight across.

I just reported it. The listing will soon be pulled. We as a community/family have to stop this kind of nonsense.

chris, that's what its supposed to be on the new slabs, this is an old slab, the dash on the old slabs are supposed to be straight.

Adam nice catch. I'm eating crow as I type. I checked some of my older slabs, you are on the money. And Thank You. I will have to unreport this.

Bidding war is what I figured. Winner was n**w, fighting with i**i. L**e signed off @ $88.65. All three of them must have seen something that I couldn't.
a**a signed off at $39.75. Smart guy. I was in a bit highter than that @ $48.00, but on Esnipe and never got the bid in.
Problem being, I am looking to build my set of Washingtons, but this is crazy. To see common stuff going for darn near $100.00 has got me worried.
All in all great fun, but a bit scary.

Counterfeit slab has me worried as well. I always check the grading service, and when they (NGC) have a photo of the coin I am quite satisfied. I look at the ebay feedback, and certainly look for obvious stuff, what else should I be looking for? Any tips to calling a counterfeit slab? Upstate, you probably have the best approach . . . . . Numismedia FMV was $78...and then a few bucks for the slab...I don't see where this was all that high

Valued at about $75- $80.00. It is graded though. All in all, you missed out on nothing really.
