I found this yesterday searching through my Dad's two large coffee cans of cents! Obvious doubling on date but no where else. I can't seem to find this variety. Help!
Congratz on the 1909. I found a 1972 just last week that is a twin to yours. Gave me a nitro moment for a few seconds. That is until I looked at the motto and liberty. Then I took a closer look at the date and noticed the flat shelf like look and could not really find any separation or serifs. The hunt continues.
I do have a cent box full with lose US cents to go through. Since I live in Canada I scan the US coins real quick to see if there is anything noticeable to the naked eye. I then place it in the box to search for varieties and errors on a later date. I think I will work on it this week. I hope to find at least a few to get the old juices flowing.
Good luck on your continuing hunts. John1 could not of sucked up all the 72's. :)
Thanks guys! I thought I might have something there for a minute. I now see what cladhunter13 says about the flat shelf like look and no separation or serifs. I also save all my Canadian coins for later investigation. I average 10 Canadian cents per $10.00 U.S.
