I picked this up a few days ago for around spot to get my first War Nickel, and it was in a small holder, and when I went to change holders, I noticed this... I would really like some help in determining if this is a clipped planchett... I know the grade is like a VG-8, but I don't know if this has any extra value...

Need pics of obverse and reverse, as well as a pic of the edge where the clip occurred.

i guess my question is, is the blakesley effect real prominant on a thicker coin like a nickel or is it just like any other coin?

it looks like its flatter on the opposite end of the "clip"... not indented, but a flatter surface than the rest of the coin...

and what kind of rarity is this? I've never seen a clip on a wartime nickel at all. I have no idea what the value of this would be(?)

I think it looks like a legitimate incomplete planchet.

I've seen a few incomplete War Nickel planchets go for some pretty decent money, but I would put yours in the $20-25 range.
