Can someone explain to me, on the 1955 "doubled die" Lincoln, why the letters and numbers are doubled but Lincoln's portrait is not? Thanks.

Actually, it is. You can see doubling on his eyelid, nose, lips....

Hm I'll have to check photos more closely. It's just that whenever your read a description of one, they always talk about the words and numbers and never the portrait.

I'm not sure but I think there is different types of DDO for the 1955 also 1972 that have doubling only in date lettering or liberty ! The one everywhere is the super one and have more value but I can be wrong
