I have been trying to find a Henning for a while now, do they ever pop up on ebay? Or are they illegal to even sell? Can someone please clarify for me?

i think they are not allowed to be sold. I assume people do sell them but I don't think they would ever pop up on ebay due to being illegal to own, because it is counterfeit money. anyways they must be really rare while roll searching. coppernickeldaddy found 2 while roll searching, but that was searching through over 18,000 rolls. so yes they are really rare.

Do a search on here and you'll find some great info. They are not necessarily illegal to own though.Using counterfeits as legal tender is illegal. You can sell them if disclosed as counterfeit. Some people even have entire collections of counterfeit coins.

They are completely legal to own and several forum members have found them in roll searches. pyrob is the 'King of Hennings'. This archived post discusses the diagnostics for the various dates ... http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...PIC_ID=53117I'm at 237,000 nickels searched and still looking for one! David

I've done a box a day for years, no-go. I've got faith, though. I think Henning's own production #'s are low. It may sound nuts and OT, but looking for one is what gave me use of my hands, post-stroke. Thomas J. did in a week, what therapists couldn't in a year.

Hennings can be found on ebay but I have to admit I watch for them and I haven't seen any for quite a while. Usually they are on as 1944 no P nickels. But I have also seen them as 1944 no mintmark nickel or 1944 Henning nickel. If the word counterfeit is in the posting ebay pulls the lot before it finishes because of their policy on counterfeits.

but if it is posted as counterfeit, wouldn't that be legal & legit? ebay doesn't exactly have a reputation for taking off all counterfeits...

Their offical policy is to remove counterfit coins, even if they are clearly marked as such in the listing. They do allow replicas and copy coins to be sold if the coins are defaced with the words copy or replica. -XoG

I've seen them sold on ebay. I'd love to own one. I've started searching nickel boxes for this purpose. They are legal to own and sell, but I haven't seen enough sales to understand appropriate sale price.

they are around though.....pyrbob has a bunch of the '44s alone. I think I saw it somewhere where they estimate a couple hundred thousand Hennings were put out by him before he got caught. I've been looking for awhile but so far no luck
