This coin has a dull, unattractive surface - both obverse and reverse. Can't seem to reduce the reverse pic enough to post it, but it's similar to the obverse in appearance.
Does it appear to you that someone has attempted to clean this coin? It's shiny under the gunk, but it's not due to mint luster as it is nearly all gone.
Any dots, spots, etc. are dust or lint - not part of the coin.
With all that taken into consideration, what is your opinion as to the grade of this coin? I'd like to list it as MS, but, with no mint luster, I'm hesitant to do so.

Hi Ralph

scans do not show luster, but I will take your word for it that the coin has none,, it looks as if it may have been over dipped, due to the grey color ,, I think it is an MS coin, but I would not with good concious be able to list it that way,, if it were mine and forsale, I would sell it as bullion at spot buy it now . and not apply a grade to the sale.

Its just silver bullion spot price now. Any numismatic value is gone. In my opinion if ASE's are not at least MS-69 and certified they are always going to be bullion price. At least in our lifetimes. Now, maybe 100-200 years down the road maybe they will be worth much more. I know people might say, "Well what about the 1996?" Again, if it isn't certified at MS-69 or MS-70 it is just bullion. People might pay more for a 1996 even at this condition but that is their choice but I wouldn't pay more than spot for it.

I won't be selling this one. In fact, I've not sold a coin to date. By listing, I meant the list, inventory, whatever you care to call it, I keep of my own coins. I like to keep them neatly listed, and as accurate as possible, Ever once in awhile, I don't trust my own judgement when it comes to grading, so I seek help from those who are more in the know.

Ok Ralph I understand now what you meant by List ,, numerically the coin could not go over 60 with out the luster being intact,, MS but barely.. Chemically cleaned.
