Some sites hawk this as an arcade token, and a pocket-full of them may be redeemed by the cashier. Others refer to this piece as a "Reader's Digest" coin, good for the book of the month; which coincidetally was 14.97.

It is indeed a Readers Digest token, the Pegasus type of flying horse was often found on their promotional stuff.
