I hope I am not abusing the forum, I seem to be posting a lot of pics lately . . . . .
This is a 44-D Washington in MSsomething-or-other, it has an odd "ring" around the obverse, not so much on the reverse.
What the heck is that? My fear is that it is evidence of a whizzing of some sort . . . . .
Photo shows it very well.
Anyone seen this before?

I'm no expert, but it looks like evidence of being the first coin in a roll? Just my Two Cents...

I am thinking it could be evidence of die stress. I have seen a lot of coins with concentric die cracks, usually in the area in the area where this coin is being questioned.

Nice coin, does not appear whizzed. Probably a roll end piece as Newbismatic mentioned, with a slight scuff from the wrapping machine.

Also - post all the coins you want here. As you can see there are a bunch of us that really enjoy this grading forum!

I see this same ring on nickels a lot. I chalked it up to being something from the Mint. Never thought about a coin roller...
