As a darksider I rarely come across US coinage, so I was pleased to find this:

1843-Large-Cent-Query

I understand that there are varieties in some years, and wondered if this might be one of those years.
Thanks,
Bob

There are multiple varieties for almost every year. There are I believe either 15 or 17 varieites in 1843.. Only one of them is rare. I don't have access to my books right now, and frankly it might not be possible to do an attribution from those photos. Late dates can be hard to attribute.

15 or 17? And I thought Victorian pennies were complicated

15 to 17 is nothing. The 1794 cent has 70 different die varieties. 1796 has 34, 1798 has 46. Several of the cents from the 1850's have 30 to 40 varieties.

Well I've checked the books and as I thought the pictures aren't good enough for a definitive attribution I can narrow it down to five possible varieties N-2, 8, 10, 11, or 15. And I am leaning toward N-8.
