the coins and Canada site has it listed but no info I have an UNC mint set with one in it is it valuable?

I have the 1987 Voyageur dollar. Bought a proof-like beauty off ebay for 99 cents +$3 shipping. But then again I was in the right place at the right time. Here's a scan.  The Voyageur dollars are my favorite Canadian coin.

not really, check out colonialacres.com, they frequently sell the sets for $6 a piece.

There were a few ways of getting the dollar coins back then - double dollar sets, proof dollar sets ...

wonder if they ever found the dies? and why did they already have a new design ready?

The design probably was meant for another coin, probably a commemorative. The dies were not recovered from what I could find.
