That dime is just exquisite! If I had the money I would not hesitate to add it to my collection.

I'm taking it you all are fans of the toning because I'd say it's way overpriced even for a ms66. Nice coin, but way overpriced imo

I have no idea what a fair price would be for this coin. I just liked looking at it! IMO the eye appeal is just spectacular.

Coins with 5 digit price tags are WAY out of my league, but they sure are fun to look at.

Needless to say, the guide does not apply to a coin of this magnitude.

QFT. I didn't get to see the actual coin since the auction is long-expired but when you are dealing with a ~200 year old coin in a ridiculous grade of MS66, price guides are almost meaningless. Some high end coins can hammer for multiples of "price guide" values at auction, especially when examples only come to market every few years-few decades and/or if it is in demand by multiple collectors. As for me, my 1814 dime is a lowly AG3 but at least is is the better Small Date variety

I think it just expired since it was almost a year ago that it was on there

^^ Is this the coin that was on ebay? ^^

Even if it's not, isn't 38k very overpriced? I mean the last one HA sold in '08 went for 15k.

$38,000. $15,000. Maybe I'm wrong, but I never known a coin to grow so much in just a mere three years.

Got me. I didn't realize the seller had decided to dig up an old thread.
