Hi, all:

Please take a look at the "A" in Canada.

I found this in some old junk silver coins that I have. I have a copy of of the "1st Edition 1961 - Canadian Coin Variety Catalog" by Hans Zoell. Old but lots of detail! This one isn't in it. I am new to coin errors, so if someone can point me in the right direction on this one, it would be appreciated. Such as error, variety, freak type and approx value?

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

In the third edition ( 1965 part two ), Hans Zoell, I find your coin, # P279r, price listed, in 1965 : 15 cents Fine and 40 cents UNC. I think that in 2011, the prices are about $ 1.00 an $ 3.00 for the same grades.

The error on your coin is a " Die chip ", and we can find many " Die chip " on ten cents coins, from 1940 to 1965 : some are common and someone are more scarce.

For more informations on " Errors and varieties ", I refer you to the following list, with photos ( click on photo to see full image ) : http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins...rieties.php.

Good luck !

Thanks ZA75! Now looking at the scan, I see one on the "N" as well. Great site here and great info.

Thanks again!

Steve
