Ive recently moved to ocean county new jersey and I've found mostly junk and clad no good coins. Does anybody know of any good places around here that would have old coins?

Its not specific places that have old coins. Best place to start is at your local historic society or library. Read up on where things used to be in your area. Then go to a store and buy a rabbit foot or a horseshoe cause most of the finds are luck. Id prefer a rabbits foot though cause horshoes are a little heavy.

I don't know the area, but somethings hold true no matter where you detect.

You will have to do a little reserch, but the most productive areas are those where people have gathered for many years, fairgrounds, carnival grounds, old areas of town where may be people are to wait for a bus, city parks, county parks, state parks, swimming holes, campgrounds.

you get the idea, just do some web searches for the history of your town, look for pictures from days gone by, stories about big gatherings, old buildings that were torn down and left an empty lot, railroad stations that were but aren't any longer, or may be they are still there.

baseball fields, sports fields of all kinds,

these are the places I detect and I usually do really well.
