I got the fever bad. I cant detect in the snow . I got a bunch of areas lined up as soon as the snow goes away. I finally got a detecting buddy from the area who will detect with me. I found a Half Penny from 1760-1820 last yr without a detector. I was digging for bottles and that coin popped up lol. The date wasnt visible on the coin but the person was.

Thats funny that you were digging up bottles because I was just at my bank today and I was telling one of the guys that works there that I collect coins and he starts telling me about an uncle of his who would dig up bottles and sell them. I thought that sounds pretty cool. I've never tried it, I've always just metal detected.

Bottle digging is alot of fun. You find anything from coins, silverwear, toys, jewelry, etc..... and bottles. Plus old metal buttons and marbles.

If you can locate where the privy was, you should score some nice bottles, even pontiled ones. After coins, antique bottles are right up there with me ;-)

Thats where I found the old half penny in a privy about 2 feet deep. The funny thing was the privy was nowhere near as old as the coin. I think someone took a dump with a lucky coin in there pocket and lost it. I guess you can say there luck went down the drain.

As a kid we would find old house sites in the woods of Virginia and dig in their trash piles. Lots of good bottles found there! My favorate ones were the posion bottles w/the skull & cross bones on them!
