I have a set of the Dias 88 500th anniversary of his voyage around the South African coast. I only know they were made by the South African Mint (I think), and I'm hoping to find out more about them such as material they are made out of. I know they are not a very expensive set but any information would be greatly appreciated.

Let me know if I need to scan the other side of the coins, all of them simply have Dias 88 on them.

Thanks

Usually colonial powers are more proud about their exploring voyages then the colonized. If I had to guess I'd say this set was produced by Portugal, especially seeing that the language of the legend is Portuguese.

Even though Dias was Portuguese, These coins were made in South Africa as part of their Protea (I believe) series in 1988. I'm looking for the composition of the coins.

Thanks
