Hi,

I don't live in Euro land but I do nip across the border to the Republic of Ireland quite often to take advantage of the cheaper diesel prices.

I got this in change - instead of a 1 cent coin. I don't collect Euros (except to spend :) ) but I do check them if I have any in case they are a fistful of ones from the Vatican City...

No it's about 12 mm - the 1 Cent is about the same size

In theory it is the same size as a uk penny. Many coins end up in British circulation, though I got a greek five cents as a one penny coin the other week!

Actually it seems to be a good bit smaller than our Penny, but as I said, I got in place of a 1 Cent.
