Could anyone tell where I could send my morgans to be attributed for VAMs? It seems that my posting has stalled, and am not getting any answers from the VAMWORLD site.
Rest in Peace

wrongalot (I cudda used this name ), we've got several members who can better answer this question than I, but PCGS attributes some 100 VAMs and I believe both NGC and ANACS provide the same service. Here's PCGS's info: http://www.pcgs.com/grading_list.ch...yAttribution (the list of attributable VAMs is in PDF).

John (messydesk) from the CU forum does this for $5 a coin. Check out his website, he is a good guy. If he doesn't know the VAM, he will send the coin to Leroy for you.

Actually PCGS attributes over 100 1878 morgans alone, not sure how many they attribute all together since 1878 is my main focus. If you want every coin attributed and graded then send them to ANACS as they attribute each and every VAM known as of now, which is something no other TPG does

The particular problem in wrongalot's case (at least, the one I'm pulling my hair out trying to identify for him) is that the coin(s) aren't necessarily identified VAM's.

I heartily endorse Becky's suggestion to get with John Baumgartner. He's a great guy, extremely knowledgeable, and will not steer you wrong. Here's an example of his work:

The coin appears upside down because the error is on the reverse; that's the "front" of the slab.

Boy that is small to see! I bet it takes alot of patience and time to collect these types of coins. The errors are so small in a lot of cases. That grading is excellent for the collector. It really helps to see the variation. :)
