Hi, brand new to forum so let me know if this isn't the 'modus operandi' for the forum! I've just dug out my old coin collection from when I was a kid and looking to identify the bits worth selling individually before I action all the rest off in a 'oner'. I have a 1871 Liberty Seated quarter dollar in what I would deem to be in good condition exceptthere is a tiny hole all the way through just to the right of the '1' in 1871 obviously where someone has used it to hang round there neck.

Rough estimation of value? *** Edited by Staff - Please Review the rules that you agreed to when you registered. ***

I'd say about $10 for a plain 1871 in G-4 w/ hole.

No mintmark that I can see, I understand it should be between the eagle and the words of the currency. It is a small font on the 1871 with serifs, which apparently are slightly rarer and mean it was made in Philadelphia. $10? ooh I see :(

Yes, I concur that $10 would be a fair retail price. Many collectors wouldn't pay more than $5-$6 now which is around bullion price for silver; this, given the hole.
