There has been random times when I get practically UNC 50 cents from circulation, mainly coins from the 70s. I pulled a couple of UNC 1977 silver jubilee coins this way and some other 50 cents. Is it simply because there were people disappointed that they aren't getting a lot more than face value and decide to spend it? Or just some children receiving such coins as gifts and spending them?

How about you? Do you get lucky?

I've had a couple of good commemorative 50 cent pieces from circulation. I think that when economic times get tough non-collectors, or fair weather collectors, will dip in to their stack of commemoratives and just spend them. That's when we swoop in :-)
