Hi,

We are a family that knows little or nothing about coins, but my daughter has a 1884 Morgan silver dollar with a rim around it for wearing with a chain.

We are interested in learning how much it might be worth and important descriptive information. Anyone willing to help? We will appreciate it!

Thanks!

You have a 1884-O Morgan dollar. You can see the O below the wreath on the reverse. The means it was minted in New Orleans. It is rather common date so I would say that the coin is worth its silver value (currently about $25.)

The jewelry rims often times damage coins lowering their value, but I don't think that it matters much in your case since the coin does not have much value other than its silver content.

just so you know, Morgan dollars have about 3/4 of an ounce of silver in them...
