Does anyone follow this area? And IF so is there a good pricing source?

The reason I ask is that I am noticing that "certain" (proof and Unc's) 2008 and 2009 coins have considerable premiums over at APMEX. Not sure if one can go by their prices. On the flip side the same coins that have a high markup on APMEX invariably have a very high BIN on ebay and do not come up for auctions as much.

I have checked the mintage / sold numbers and some of them are rather low (less than 5K out of max mintage of 15K). But even this does not correspond with prices so to say.

Thanks

I had enthusistacly started this series from the mint in 2007 but have now been priced out of my range. In 2007 all were sold out and I had felt lucky that I was able to aquire all straight from the mint. As time goes on we will find that the later issues with high origonal issue price will not have the complete mintage allowed offering a rairaty that will aprecieate in time.

This is an elite area in our coin collecting. I feel that the rewards will be great because of the people that can afford to participate in buying these coins. As Muddler said the census or amount produced by the mint will definitely effect the price. However it may not be for the faint hearted because as a bullion coin its bottom line value is hinged to the price of gold. The pricing source that is most reliable is the every day prices you see on ebay. These prices are the real world and I use them as a barometer. Good Luck

ebay is fine for "high" volume items and is NOT a good source for items such as this. I am basing this on my own experience. It's a hit OR miss game over on the bay with items like this. Ergo, not reliable.

It will be interesting to see what happens in a few years with these gold coins.

As an after thought DO NOT USE THE BIN. USE THE MAKE OFFER Type of selling.
