Judging from the other 'errors' he is trying to sell, I'd say he went MD'ing near a train rail....

Yep, the right coin looks familiar...I made a few as a kid myself, but I never thought of selling them.

that was a daily ritual when I was a kid since we lived a rocks throw from the tracks and walked on them to get just about everywhere

The tracks were on a hill between grandpa's house and orchard. The hill's still there, they tore up the tracks and planted houses.
