Hi Members. Can anyone tell me the total proof mintage for an 1893 British proof sixpence? Does anyone have a source? I understand there were full gold/silver and silver only sets issued. How rare is the cameo and why are some cameo and others not? I'm confused.

In both Krause and Coincraft (British exclusively) they give the number 1,312 for Proof mintage. Neither book specifies what kind of Proof they were.

Rotographic would catalogue the proof 1893 sixpence at around $200 now.

Hi there. Thank you for your advise on the value and mintage for the coin. I am surprised it is not worth a bit more. Guess the mintage of ordinary strikes must have been high.
