I think it's been cleaned but don't just take my word on it.

This one I am almost positive about, this one I think is a VAM-14.3 which again is a Scarce variety, not quite as big of a score as the VAM-32 would be but still a nice variety to have

Okay Bryan - I can see the added feathers on the reverse, but too much wear to see any doubling on the bow and leaves. On the obverse I can plainly see the die scratches in the recessed area of the bonnet, and the difference in the eye area, but, due to excessive wear, it's difficult to see the other attributes, and I don't believe my scans will show any more than other scans I've posted in regards to some of my other coins. On this one and the 7 over 8TF I'll list them on my sheet as possible VAMs. Thanks.

I know this post is from a couple of months ago, but I just got some new information, and thought I'd share it. I've a friend out in Seattle by the name of Jose Cortez - pretty well known name in the world of numismatics. I sent this coin, and the 1878 7/8TF to him to get his opinion - got them back today, and you'll be happy to know he, also, believes this one to be a VAM 14-3, and he gave his opinion of the grade - VG 10 Obv and F 15 Rev. Not a high dollar coin in the condition it's in, but I think it's pretty cool. Ralph

Hi Ralph-- Good catch on the VAM 14.3. You triggered something in the back of my mind with Jose Cortez in Seattle, but I'm having a hard time figuring out the connection - why does his name sound familiar? This is probably gonna bug me all night. Fred

Bryan - sorry about that. I know opening up an old topic is like fanning the coals, but I thought I'd share Jose's in hand opinion with you.
