Lovely new image of an example on the Dollarmule site. This is not a grab for traffic to my site, reputable dealer Peter Andrews has granted permission for the site to use the image ...the result, a look the punters have not seen in ages...it is on the rare coins page...Decimal Gold. Only 6 in existence - it is a cliche but - Nice.

Very rare and unusual coin!
A Hong Kong $2 planchet with the Australian 1981 20c struck on it.
I would love to own one of those

Thanks Zipper & Australian Coin, I'd love one too. Hats off to Peter Andrews for the view. I believe coins can be marketed with sustained information / education and readily available market prices. Decimal coins in Australia have nowhere to go but up. Some of the mintage figures are really promising when comparing modern rare coins with similar relatively recent ( 100 years) pre dec "peers". The Pre-Dec purists will scoff - but I personally believe that Decimal coins are not bland in comparison to their copper and silver cousins of yesterday. You can't noodle a King George - but Lizzy is in each Gold Pan of change.

- I suspect that you are correct, but I don't expect to see a lot of movement any time soon.

Dollarmule, it was nice to see photos of the 1981 scalloped 20 cent coin again. It brings back great memories. I auctioned mine through Spinks in 1986 so it's been a long time since I've seen one in the metal. :)
