New guy here with a dumb question. I have really ramped up my roll searching efforts the past couple months and kept track as well. I cant figure out how to ask the tellers in a nonchalant way if they have any customer wrapped rolls. I never see any, and they are always willing to order boxes for me. Does anyone ask their dumps for CWR as well or only the supply places? I dont use credit unions either, never thought of it to be honest so could this be hurting my search efforts as well? I do 2 boxes of halves per week.

Thank you and great forum here :)

i have been known to do half drives I live in small town takes me 30 mins to drive to the sticks but as you know most banks dont keep 1/2 in "stock" but I will go to a dozen or so diffrent banks in diffrent towns and ask for halves some time they will have one or 2 sometimes they will have a roll or five and they will normally be hand rolled

With the price of gas lately I havent done this in some time

I have gotten coins from banks that I dont have an account with never hurts to ask
just like Just Carl sez "you have to ask "

I see more CWR's at the sattelite branches. Here (upstate NY) most grocery stores have banks in them. I've become friendly with a manager at one and he said that they don't even order boxes. I just go in with 10 or 20 dollars and take what they have. As far as nonchallant goes honesty has worked best for me. I just tell them what I'm doing!

Okay...first thing is not to ask for "CWR" - I had no clue what that meant, and I've been doing this for over 30 years. Way too many home-made abbreviations 'round here.

Doesn't generally matter to me whether I get machine wrapped rolls - they all produce about the same thing.
Rest in Peace

Most tellers are tickled to get rid of anything that doesn't fit in the "normal" flow of business. Let them know you'll help them by taking Ikes, halves, 2, 500, 1000 and old series bills, off their hands. At worst, you spend them or deposit them elsewhere. I had a supermarket cashier call with about 30 new tens with extra ink on the seals, from just a little to so much the bills stuck together.
