*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***Did this error occur during the minting process or during circulation? It is not a wheat and it weighed 2.5 grams so the date is suppose to be 1983+. Thanks!

Your coin is from the 1990s - probably 1998 or 1999.
It is the result of grease and other impurities clogging the dies that minted the coin. They bring a couple of dollars as a curiosity.

Beat me to it Coppercoins...if it is 98 or 99. Check for WAM.

Except in this case you would have a very hard time convincing anyone of the date. It would take a real nerd like me who knows all the little tiny things to look for in order to ascertain the date.

Right Coppercoins...but wouldn't you love to confirm the error AND attribute the variety?

Only if the last digit of the date is legible would it make any difference. And frankly - I've never been all that excited about the WAM thing.

Are WAM's even worth collecting? I've yet to see anyone buying them and as of right now there is like 2-3 on ebay.

I hear ya Copper. Why are you down on the variety? I've seen you say that before? Scooby-I agree Ninja-no they are not collectible...just send any you find to me. I'll make sure to dispose of them.

Quote: I've yet to see anyone buying them and as of right now there is like 2-3 on ebay You might need to learn how to search, there are 30 listed right now. And check the completed listings to see how much they are bringing. I'm definitely collecting them.Have 23 right now.

Yeah, I guess in hindsight I probably shouldn't have included 1998 as that weeded out the majority.
