Hello, all.

I just purchased two 1918 SLQs (one P mint, one S) from a seller on ebay to upgrade some coins prior to the "14 days of SLQ" (coming soon after the "65 Days of Old Copper" finishes!

When they arrived, I was a little surprised to see the two coins placed right on top of each other, wrapped in a piece of paper (no 2 x 2s, no padding between them, etc.) and then stuffed into an envelope.

Additional Info: I didn't see any obvious damage from the improper packaging and I don't like giving negative feedback. I do think something should be said or done, however.

Suggestions?

Nice coins Moe! If there is no obvious damage, I would not give the seller a neg or neutral. At worst I'd mention "shoddy packaging" in the feedback and give him fewer stars for "shipping", or I might just mention it to him in a private email and leave it out of feedback all together. Some folks just dont understand the fragility of coins, so padding it right might not be something that even occurred to him.

I'm always nervous about the shipping when I find a key coin in those junk lots of 40. The seller always just throws them all together in a plastic bag before packaging it to ship Of course, to him, they are all junk silver.

Nice coins Moe!

Thank you, Sir! (You, Mr. Johnny, inspire me!)

I'm trying to get my SLQs all VF+ across the board (not easy, as you well know!)

You're probably right with the feedback. I think I'll do the personal note thing with good feedback.

(I can't believe your 1916s were just thrown in a baggy!)

I bought a Trade dollar on ebay and it was shipped loose in an envelope sliding around. No 2x2, no airtite, nothing. If it had passed through a single unscrupulous hand they could tell it was a coin. From wear on the envelope, another day or two and the coin would have came out.

I've packed coins similarly to that Moe......as far as I'm concerned it depends on the value of the coin(s). And prob in most cases on what we pay for shipping. I always ask the seller to be specific on how the items are shipped so I know beforehand what I'm in for. And as johnny said, if the seller thinks they aren't worth much them he/she won't take much care anyway.

Of course, if any coins are mistreated I'd prefer it was anything but an SLQ
