Which do I have here? A die crack or Retained broken die at the end of the left leaf as per the image in the link?:

I see a lot of my coin in the image in the link, but I don't really understand the description.

I would have just called my coin a die crack and been happy with that, until I found the other image.

Looks like a nice long die-crack. If left longer, later strikes from that die might have made the die break along the crack. For it to be described as a retained broken die though, the surface of the little section would need to have a lower height than the surrounding fields. Also the die crack would go right through the rim.

It's a bit hard to make it out from a scan, but the die crack does go all the way to the rim in two places. This is the best image I can get of the bottom part of the crack, from the point of the leaf in the top right corner, to the rim in the bottom left corner. It's quite obvious with the coin in the hand, it just doesn't scan all that well.
