Living in Canada I pull out a few wheat cents a box
I currently have a few hundred, Sitting in a jar

What key years should I be looking for?

A lot of members here recommend the " RedBook" for determining values, but I just use this web page.

There are numerous web sites for pennies. For example https://www.coppercoins.com is just one of them. One nice thing about that one is you can ask all kinds of quesetions about those coins there.
Some use The Lincoln Cent Resource web site.
I really think instead for now just purchase the Red Book by Whitman Publishing for general information on that coin.
Much simpler to just flip open that book and look up what you want.

coppercoins is a great website to determine what varieties to look for, but not key dates.

If you want a "general" idea of key dates to look for, go to numismedia.com, find the collector price guide to the left, then look at the G4 prices - then you'll have a rough idea of which year and mintmarks are more desirable.

For example, you'll see 1911 listed at 0.24 in G4, and a 1914-D listed at $162.00.
