Hi, Will! Welcome to the Community.
I bet we can figure out what your coin is, but honestly the image is a little too small to see any detail clearly. Is there any way you can make the picture larger?

The Reverse of the coin looks to be an ancient R2D2 carving on the coin

Just thought I would add that the coin is pretty small, maybe a little smaller than our common day dimes. appears to be silver, but not completely sure. No magnetic attraction....

Believe it or not, but my son just brought home a book about coins from his school library and it had this coin in it ... It is an ancient Roman coin... The ""R2-D2"" that was talked about is the coin referencing the coining process. The dome shape is the Punch, under that is the Anvil, to the right is the Hammer, and the Tongs are to the left... Now to think about it for a minute, it was the Romans way of showing us how to make coins their way, and to me, that is absolutely amazing I will post a picture in a few...wow

Wow that is crazy, thanks public library! I Found this one on a coin auction site: http://www.ancient-art.com/images/rr233.jpgT. Carisius, 46BC, AR Denarius, Juno Moneta head rt./T CARISIV above cap of Vulcan and anvil between tongs and hammer, all within wreath one of the few coins showing the implements of coin making. Makes sense that the word on front says "MONETA" It was made in 46BC, doesn't give value, so my search continues.... Thanks so much for the help finding the origin!

Be sure to thank the kiddo for me! That was the only coin in my collection that went under the radar...my step dad picked it up at a flea market years ago and was passed to me with the collection around 15 years ago. I can't believe I hadn't asked about it before! Amazing that something that old survived all these years and in such good shape. I guess the value is the only question I have left, so if anyone has any input I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again.

As for value, there are four examples on the Wildwinds page for this coin with prices realised ranging between $35 and $175. Given the condition of this one I'd put it in the lower range, probably a $50 to $100 coin.
