Its not in great shape so its possible it could be Quintillus (Claudius IIs brother) or maybe even Gallienus (Emperor before Claudius II). Report this Post to the Staff

Sap Moderator Australia 16808 Posts	Posted 03/19/2011 04:57 am I believe the Roman one is a posthumous "CONSECRATIO" altar-enclosure type of Claudius II, struck during the rule of his successors who deified him. This is the closest match I could find on Wildwinds. In this condition, with virtually no legend readable on either obverse or reverse to allow an exact determination of variety, it wouldn't be worth much - maybe $5 or so? The Brunswick coin is listed in my 202 edition 1600s Krause catalogue as number 310, and gives a value in VG condition of $10. On that basis I'd give this coin a value of about $15 today. Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis Report this Post to the Staff
