I've been hunting for silver for a while since I'm a teller at a credit union in my town, but my bank won't buy boxes. So had to get daddy to wrestle up regions to do it for him, but I'm pretty excited to see what I will come up with.

just a tip
I pull all of the 1969 P and 2009 P or D dimes
-low mintage will hopefully make these a little bit desirable in the future
also 1982 has a coin with no mintmark to watch for
it is supposed to have a P but it's missing
lastly if you come across canadian dimes they can have silver in them up until 1968
but you have to check the 68 coin because it could be made of nickel rather then have silver in it
***if it is attracted to a magnet the canadian dime isn't silver and depending on where you are in the country you should probably just throw it back in the roll
I am from Buffalo NY and have a set of canadian dimes from circulation here so I toss them back, they are very common
if the canadian coins are rare where you are at collect as you please
have fun and let us know the results, I love searching dimes

PS. if you already knew all this sorry figured I would try to help out
maybe someone else can get some information here as well!
GOOD LUCK

Good luck... Dimes are my second favorite right now after Nickels. Beware of the canadian dime too. I live about 45 mins from Canada so I see alot of these dimes and I when I open a roll you see a dime that is all silver on the side and get excited only to find it to be a canadian post 1968. Good luck with the 2009 dimes in about 600 dollars of searching so far I have yet to find one.

wow, I knew the 09's were rare but 600 bucks worth?

Guess I probably won't find the 09 P in this box to go with the 09 D, but we'll see.

I have yet to buy a box of dimes I usually get 100 bucks in rolls to go with my box or two of nickels. In my 4 + boxes of nickels I have only found one 2009 nickel. Come to think of it in my 3 + boxes of quarters I have yet to find even one silver quarter. Maybe I am just unlucky

Good luck with the dimes. They can be fun if you have a little success.

I have done 8 boxes in the last 2 months. I found 8 silver Rosies, a handful of junk Canadain, and got extremely lucky with a 1996W dime. I think some British coins are plentiful in some areas; I have found 1.

It is a great feeling to see the silver edge among a whole lot of clad. You really should check dates, mintmarks and the possibility of errors. It takes some time, but it's the only way to know for sure.

BTW, as a teller, do come up with any great finds?

I think he was saying he searched through $600 worth of dimes. Does anyone have a rough estimate of how much the 2009 dime goes for?

10 cents or a little more if you can get someone to pay more but only bu rolls are really worth it. If any one got a 2009 box of nickels or dimes they are good for a while especially if prices continue to where there at for ex I got a box of 2009 nickels and I will say there staying with me for a long time especially since got them at face and seeing the huge premiums on them

Yea since November, I have 10 rosies, 5 40%, 2 silver washingtons, a War Nickel, and a steel cent. And one woman came in gave me 80 40%'s, but I had to cash them in because I had a speeding ticket to play

But if you brought the 80 coins to a coin shop, you could have much more money than face value. Then use that money to pay the ticket.

+1 to that stormdog. I hope you didn't just "cash" them in.
