Wild Bill, I think ?3? different dies have been identified for the '99 WAM and the one posted by my Maineman is the more common of the 3. Certainly not the only dignostic or required, but for his die the clash is almost always there.

I thought I remembered column 8 as a diagnostic, but couldn't remember where I saw that. Here is a closeup of 8 and also something I noticed on 3.

There's at least 3 reverse dies... Two with clashes, one without. My 1999 has no clashes in the columns, which is the rarest die, IIRC.

Maineman750: Here is the info- from Ken Potters site. There are at least 4 different dies, might be more, since this was written. So far, I have found 2 from Die#2 with die clashes and 1 from Die # 3 with no die clash and a crack down the right side of steps. http://koinpro.tripod.com/Articles/...Rev_Dies.htm

With all due respect to Maineman750, and not trying to hijack his thread.....the '99 WAM that I have found does not reflect the markers of the die clashes you have mentioned.....so I found the rarest of the 3 but unfortunately the find is pretty beat up

Hey thanks chuckster...I forgot to save that the first time I found it Wild Bill, no problem, I just wanted to brag to somebody that would care. My daughter wasn't exactly thrilled hearing my WooHoo ! at 6:00 am but she is a morning grump I did notice on Ken Potter's site that there may be only two dies, just different states. As for rarity, are the TPG's labeling the slabs by die number too ?

Hey Maineman750, I know how you feel with the find at 6:00 this morning.....my first '99 find was at 2:30 in the morning, with kids in bed and the wife to get up to go to work at 6:00, she would not be happy if I woke her up to share my find.....I had no-one to share my find with at the time.....I will be more than happy to share an awsome find with you any time.....so, when are you going to find another one ?

Well, at least she was awake or I probably wouldn't get fed tonight. I don't know about finding another but I had a feeling on this one...Hoosierdaddy and I came up with a trade for his extra 99 and it is supposed to be here this afternoon...I kept thinking all week..."wouldn't that be funny ?" I am hoping to find a CAM now...one nice 99 is enough ,and I have a 99 that is pretty stained and ugly too.

I don't know if they are or not.

The reason I asked is that I wondered how the rarity factor was attributed or if it means anything other than to a collector trying to make a set by die number.I do know of a guy working on a set of 88 RDV's by die number. All good stuff though...these discussions are a good way for us to learn.

Ah, some people have all my luck, I'm still on the lookout for my first. Right before I saw this thread I got through looking over some of my own.
