It appears to me to be XF for wear, but there seems to be corrosion and hard crud, so it would sell for well less than than XF. If the corrosion has actually pitted the coin surface, then I would give the coin no more than VF-20, maybe less once you see it in hand. A VF-20 coin trends for $100 (which is full wishful-thinking retail), so you might be able to sell it for $40-50. BTW, there is no real "generic" 9/8 .. there are many different types, some scarce some relatively common. Try to look at a copy of Rob Turners Provincial Large Cent book, volume 2, which tracks every working die for the 1859/8's and shows the rarity of both the onberse & reverse.

Thanks R2b, XF were my thoughts also. At least I didn't pay too much & once in hand I'll know how well I did.

Once you get it in hand, you will be able to tell for sure whether it is a 9/8 or not. There is a possibiltity it is just a narrow "bold 9" ... those are distinguisable by when the knob on the tail of the 5 & 9 almost touch the top part of the digit. Plus they just appear to be thicker. The photo somewhat blurs the inside shape of the loop .. circular or egg-shaped? A look in-hand will settle it.

Definitely a 9/8. What I thought was corrosion was in front of Vicky's eyes and above the "one" .. plus some stuff in the Obv & Rev legends. Again, XF for wear.
