Hi, I am known as WildBill and what I do is roll search American pennies and Canadian pennies and nickels. I have started to keep track of what I search to help me stay focused.

What I'm tracking is Canadian .999 nickel vs cupronickel/nickel plated steel and the break-down by composition and basic designs.

I hope someone else can get some value out of my time and feel free to use the information any way you see fit. I will make the full spread sheet available upon request, just ask with the dancing banana.

Column "D" is latest data entry date and column "C" will be all data collected to date.

Wild bill: It has been mentioned elsewhere on this forum that the RCM is actively engaged on the withdrawal of the pure nickel 5 cents from circulation.

Your efforts documented here should faithfully chart the progress of their activity in this regard.

Yes, it should chart their efforts long term but, I'm not throwing my .999 back in the wild.....see if I can race them to it !

I'm not going to let them get them all.

Your results are consistent with mine.

2 yrs ago I was getting a +20% yield on 0.999 Nickel.
Now I get 10% if I am lucky.

I wish I could afford to keep all the .999 I get in each box. My last 2 boxes were higher .999 then average per box. One was 23.5% and the other was around 30%. Unfortunately for me...I had to release them back to the wild. CRH on a fixed budget makes it hard to hoard copper & nickel to play the waiting game. My returns to the bank go to my next box to search. Keeping $20 - 25 out of a box of nickels really cuts into the budget. Not to mention the wife already likes to complain that my coins are scattered about. Maybe some day I will be able to hoard for the heck of it. Until I win the Lotto...I will stick with the system I have been using. :) Happy Hunting All!
