My wife is in possession of a 1920 Pre-treasury bank note.
The bank is Farmer's National Bank, Princeton KY.
On the left-hand side of the note is a picture of Hugh McCulloch.
There is a faint signature of the cashier & even fainter signature of the bank president.
On the back of the note is a young lady seated on the left-hand side of the bill as well as a view of Washington DC. The right side appears blank.
I didn't know if I could post a link to photobucket where I uploaded a scan of the front & rear of the bill.
Thanks.

National currency comes in large size notes and the 1929 brown seal small notes.

There are two kinds, the common ones are issued on one of the 12 Federal Reserve banks.

The scarcer ones are issued on individual banks, like yours. Value depends on series, denomination, condition, bank, state, city, etc. Someone with the big catalog can tell you how many of this note are known. Princeton KY doesn't sound like a large bank.

Before you book a world cruise, keep in mind that even notes with fewer than ten known can be bought for under $100.

I know it's not in the best condition, but it's still a pretty cool piece.
I especially like the fact that those are real signatures (I'm pretty sure) on there as well as the artwork.

yep, notes were hand signed and sometime hand numbered back then. One indication for genuine Confederate and broken bank notes is faded signatures and serials, because pen ink isn't as good as printer's ink. All printing sharp and black is almost always fakes.
