I have to ask, because if it is a true WAM, this will be the first that I have found or even seen in person. Can you kind folks let me know if I found a 1998 WAM? Hope you can tell by the scans and thanks in advance for any input.

The photos are kinda small to say for sure ... photo detail is good but what we really need to see is a close-in detail of the "FG" designer initials at the base of the Lincoln memorial ... that is a better diagnostic for a 1988-2000 WAM. From here it sure looks like a genuine 1998 WAM ... so I offer one tentative dancing fruit in anticipation of your confirmation (with photo hopefully) of the "FG" location. David Edited to add ... arrggh ... sorry Scooby beat me to the reply (again) ... that cCF monster never sleeps ... fortunately for me we agreed upon the next steps.
Take a look at my other hobby ... http://www.jk-dk.art

The M appears to be an equal distance between the A and E in America, which is an indication of WAM. I think you've got it.

Just found my first yesterday. Went through another 20 rolls today hoping to score again. Congrats! BTW, look at the designers initials and take a pic next time. It'll help all of us to help you celebrate. Welcome to the WAM club.

Thanks for the info. My camera is less effective than my scanner. It is a WAM though and its my first! Curious anybody put together a roll of any given years WAM?

Searching about $50.00 a week for about 6 months, I ended up with approx 6 98's and 3 2000 WAMS.
So if can be done.

Timmy30, I'm working on that goal.In 5 months of searching I have found 25 or 26 total...so I'm thinking it may take another year and a half to get a full roll of 98's or 00's.

I have almost a roll each of the 1998 and 2000. I have found over 40 of each. Hoping to hit 50 by this summer.

Wow I feel left out, I only have gotten one box of cents so far but everytime I get a box of nickels or whatever I always get 8 to 12 rolls of cents and I have yet to find a WAM. So in my guesstimate I would say I have went through 5 boxes of cents. On the bright side I got two boxes of halves on Tuesday and grabbed 14 cent rolls and while I finished up the Halves this morning I have yet to touch the cents so maybe they are in there.

Quote: that is a better diagnostic for a 1988-2000 WAM. I heard of the 1998 and 2000 Wide AM but was surprised at the above statement by nickelsearcher. What years can the Wide AM be found and which are hard to find vs common? Thanks in advance

My bad Upstate ... fat finger typo .... my '1988' should have read '1998'. WAM have been confirmed on the Philly mint coins 1998, 1999 and 2000. A few CAM have also been confirmed on the 1992-P and 1992-D. In theory, it is possible there are other years 1993 through 2008 that could have WAM .... none have been verified however. David
