Some of you that know me from other forums know that I like to brag on the stuff that I find in the change that customers bring in. I haven't really found anything worth posting lately until today. It's not much on its' own, but when you consider that I found all of this in about ten minutes time, it's not bad. I found about fifteen wheat cents, mostly common dates but one is a pretty decent looking 1924, a 1943-S Jefferson nickel, and a 2-cent Aussie coin from 1980 with a really cool frilled lizard (I think) on it! Not too bad for a few minutes work! Rachel [:p]

Congrats Rachel! its so funny- my last silver circ find was in about 1982! Yet my coffee stand tells me they get them often. Oh well... You'd think all and storeowners would be numistmatists!

Rachel I seem to recall that one of your bosses is a collector. You can play a neat trick on him with a COPY Flying Eagle cent. "Oh, what's this?"

You betcha- there are perks to being the only one with the vault key! I have to be the one who sorts and bags the loose coin, but I get first dibs on the goodies too! Most of the wheat cents go to my dad- he has this box that he stores them in, but I'm keeping the steel cent that I found today! I found another handful of wheat cents, including a 1918 and a 1928. We had someone bring in almost $400 worth of cents- took me almost three hours to run them all through the counter. Most of what I find goes in the "junk" box, but anything better than average goes in my 2x2 binder. My collector boss got transferred to another office, but I can still show him what I find at our weekly meetings. I've been tempted to pick up one of those Royal Oak mint copies of the 09-SVDB or something, just to see the look on Dad's (or the boss's) face when I show them what I "found"! Rachel [:p]

I'm on a bit of a roll this week- found a 1919 today! Woo-hoo! Dad got a nice handful of wheaties to play with, he wasn't too disappointed that I kept the steel cent for myself. Rachel [:p]

Hey Stujoe, thanks for the nature lesson! It's amazing how many different areas can be connected to coins, isn't it?

Hey Stujoe- your frilled lizard coin looks a whole lot nicer than the one I found. It's pretty beat up but I'm still glad to have it. Australia doesn't make the 2-cent piece anymore, do they? Love the link too- those are some goofy looking critters! Rachel [:p]
