So I'm not much of a nickel guy. However, I am completing a Jeff set from circ. (Just because I still can). Anyway I picked up a few rolls the other day. One turned out to be a roll of 05 buffalos. I know they are probably the most hoarded Jeffs ever. Opinions as to whether they are worth holding onto or just release them into the wild?

I've got a roll I'm holding onto, but I believe most feel they won't gain much value.

hmmm
I have started collecting a roll of each Lincoln Memorial cent
and was thinking of doing a roll of each Jefferson nickel
not so much for value but to make it more difficult and give me more of a way to track my pre '59 nickels
I would keep the nickels you have if they are in pretty decent shape

Or ...... Another reason might be, that the 2009 Jefferson just happens to be one of the fewest minted Jeffsersons in Jefferson nickel history ! ....

And I do think that the '05 Buffalo was "higly collected", as they should have been IMO.
I LOVE Chriscoinmasters comment on this.....that's the right attitude to have IMO.
Collect them for enjoyment....for a challange.....whatever....but "value" shouldn't be the "deciding factor"......

amida at one time I kept all of the westward nickels I found when roll searching but I have changed my thinking.i ended up w/ over $50 of them and the shops said they were only worth face as AU examples so I cashed them in and bought more rolls to search. now I only keep high grade MS65+ the rest I set free I do have one roll I put together with all 4 types and all 4 mints together

It is hard to not think about value when you are collecting cause we are all human and have needs, wants and worries when it comes to money. However, in this case it is only 2.00 dollars so it could be something cool to hold onto.

That is what I was thinking. When I was talking value I ws really only thinking if I could get a trade out of them. I really do not care for nickels. Obviously the 2 dollars is not an issue....lol I will keep them the worst that could happen is my daughter gets another 2 bucks from me....
