Poll Question
I saw these two, and then noticed how different they are in appearance. Setting the grade and value aside, which one would you rather have?

I liked the toning on the coin. Although I would like to see in hand first.

The '81, all day, every day. There are only about 100 in this grade or higher; the 1879 is more common. I bet if you shot that coin with axial lighting, it would explode into color.

I would agree with the above, I think the toned one is nicer, not only b/c of grade but because of the toning. You can already see some blue on the reverse. I would want it in hand though to get a good feel for it.

Definitely the 81. That blue is astounding.

I would definitely have to say the '81. Blazed white is always nice, but you just don't see coins toned like that very often. If I had the money I would be bidding on it before I finished posting!

Grade and value aside, I prefer #2, being the mirrored cameo. I see that I'm in the minority on this one. It occurs to me that this choice is akin to deciding between taking Julia Roberts or Pamela Anderson to dinner ... either way, you'd be looking at quite a dish.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
My eye is very well pleased with admiring the 81 toner!

and given her price, admiring from afar is all I will be doing. Couldn't even take her out for coffee and a doughnut. But those ddtail lines and the colour tones are entrancing

I guess I'm strange, but if I had a high MS coin, I'd love for it to be toned like the '81 - but as a proof, I'm digging the full mirror. That's what I want my proofs to be like. =)
