One of the most impressive photos I have seen so far, consistently are photos from Heritage auctions. I wonder what kind of equipment and setup they use...

You can duplicate that, any time you want, with less than $1500 in camera equipment. I suspect they're using a fairly high-end dSLR - they can afford one - but it's overkill for the job.

I have sold items with Heritage. I asked how they produced such great photos, and they would not tell me. Trade secret or something.

Um, no. Not a trade secret, just photography. Buy the right stuff, and I can have you duplicating their results the first day.
