Hi all. Received an extremely crisp & clean(almost uncirculated?) 1985 100 bill at the bank the other day. It is Chicago seal with unremarkable serial number. Should I hang on to it, or spend it at the coin show tomorrow? Thanks!

Thanks amida. Was surprised to get it since the tellers usually pull out the "old style" bills when I'm getting cash. They call them obsolete! I don't collect currency but thought it was neat.

It is neat...not much of a currency guy here. Hence my answer. Bring it to the show maybe someone will give you a premium in trade?

I have no idea what "unremarkable serial number" means?

Bryan. I think he means its not a radar, bookend, binary, ladder, solid or any other arbitrary designation that currency collectors look for in a serial number. Simply not "Fancy".

well its just another $100 bill then, I can't see any reason to keep it. I have gotten quite a few older 100's when I have gotten a check cashed or something and they are nothing special unless the serial number is special

If it were from the 60's I might consider saving it. If it were from the 50's I WOULD save it. 80's just isn't old enough.

I collect Bills, But I Do look For The Older Dates, radar, bookend, binary, ladder, solid, Star Notes or any other arbitrary designation that currency collectors look for in a serial number. But This Does Not Look To Be Any Of These
So Buy Your Self Some Boxes Of Coins & Start Looking
Good Luck
